We are proud to announce that Tiger chain blocks and lever hoists (with overload protection) have been tested and verified according to the additional criteria stipulated in NORSOK R-002. The testing was carried out by DNV-GL AS' Corrosion and Materials Technology Laboratory in Bergen.
NORSOK R-002 is one of the most normative standards for lifting equipment, and it goes further than most other standards in order to improve safety in the oil and gas industry. It specifically addresses known faults that can appear in mass-produced products.
The scope of the test includes:
- Testing of overload protection
- Testing of the two independent braking mechanisms
- Various load and function tests
- Testing of the end stops against the chain's breaking load

Manufacturing documentation in accordance with the requirements for corrosion protection was reviewed during the test and meets the criteria stipulated in the standard.
Tiger TCB14 and SS12 chain blocks and PROLH and SS11 lever hoists are equipped with Tiger's patented twin pawl design. This guarantees permanent intervention by at least one of the moving pawls and ensures maximum braking efficiency.
